How does Abdominal Therapy help with caesarian sections? For women who have had a C-section, this technique is beneficial for breaking up scar tissue in the same way it works for women who have had hysterectomies. How does Abdominal Therapy support digestion? Many anxieties and emotions through life are stored in our body's tissues and organs. A very common place is in the organs of the digestive system. Those so called "butterflies in your stomach" can lead to constipation, indigestion, heartburn, gastritis, and eventually to Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Gasto Esophageal Reflux (GERD), Crohn's and more. Stresses and emotions cause the small intestine and colon to be "twisted or kinked" leading the blockages in the flow of peristalsis. Surrounding fascia creates adhesions that mal-position organs and impede proper blood flow and enzyme secretions. These techniques slowly improve fascia adhesions, scar tissue and remove any "kinks" in the digestive tract. Often there is a dramatic improvement after just one session when combined with proper diet and self-care.
-
Will Abdominal Therapy help with digestion problems following abdominal surgery?Scar tissue and facial adhesions can often cause problems with digestion after abdominal surgery. Again, by improving circulation it breaks down the scar tissue and adhesion from past or present surgeries. A few sessions combined with castor oil packs, diet and self care are often used depending on the restriction for optimal success. Make sure you wait for allow 4-6 weeks or at the consent of your health care provider before applying this technique.
-
What is "Self Care" and why does it help?"Each client is instructed in performing the abdominal massage for themselves. By doing self care massage daily for 2 - 3 minutes of daily massage, it provides the individual with the ability to improve their symptoms while working with their practitioner. Over the years, practitioners report that their clients obtain relief from their symptoms quicker when they perform daily self care techniques and make the necessary lifestyle changes than clients who do not.

What is a Postnatal Doula?A postnatal doula is a trained professional who provides physical, emotional, and informational support to parents and families in the postpartum period. The primary focus of a postnatal doula is to assist and nurture new parents as they transition into their roles and responsibilities with a new baby. Postnatal doulas offer a range of services, including: Emotional Support: They provide a non-judgmental and empathetic presence, helping parents navigate the emotional challenges that may arise during the postpartum period. Practical Support: Postnatal doulas assist with daily tasks such as feeding, bathing, and soothing the baby. They may also help with light household chores, meal preparation, and errands to ease the load on new parents. Education and Information: Doulas share information about newborn care, feeding options, and postpartum recovery. They help parents make informed decisions and provide guidance on parenting techniques. Breastfeeding Support: For those who choose to breastfeed, postnatal doulas can offer assistance with breastfeeding techniques, address common breastfeeding challenges, and provide encouragement. Sibling and Family Integration: Doulas may help siblings adjust to the new family dynamics and support the overall integration of the new baby into the family. Postpartum Planning: They assist in creating a postpartum plan, considering the unique needs and preferences of the family, and help identify available resources and support networks.
-
What does a Postnatal Doula not do?While postpartum doulas provide valuable support and assistance during the postpartum period, there are certain things they do not do. It's important to have a clear understanding of their role and limitations. Here are some things that a postpartum doula typically does not do: Medical Procedures or Diagnosing: It's important to note that postnatal doulas do not provide medical or clinical care; their role complements the care provided by healthcare professionals. The goal is to enhance the well-being of the entire family during the postpartum period. Babysitting or Nanny Services: While postpartum doulas can assist with newborn care and provide guidance on baby-related tasks, they are not substitutes for professional babysitters or nannies. Their focus is on supporting parents and facilitating a smooth transition to parenthood. Housecleaning or Deep Cleaning: While postpartum doulas may help with light household chores, they do not typically engage in deep cleaning activities. Their primary focus is on the well-being of the parents and the newborn. Cooking Gourmet Meals: While postpartum doulas may assist with meal preparation, their focus is on providing nutritious and simple meals rather than gourmet cooking. They aim to support the family's nutritional needs during the postpartum period. Providing 24/7 Care: Postpartum doulas typically work within agreed-upon hours and do not provide 24/7 care. They may offer overnight support in some cases, but continuous around-the-clock care is not a standard part of their role. Resolving Marital or Family Issues: While postpartum doulas can offer emotional support and guidance, they are not trained therapists or counselors. They do not provide couples counseling or address deep-seated family issues. Taking on Full Parenting Responsibilities: Postpartum doulas are there to support and guide parents, but they do not take on the full parenting responsibilities. The ultimate responsibility for decision-making and caregiving remains with the parents. Managing Medical Concerns: If there are medical concerns or emergencies, postpartum doulas do not provide medical interventions. It is essential for families to consult with healthcare professionals for any medical issues.
-
Who may need a Postnatal Doula?Several individuals or families may benefit from the support of a postpartum doula. Here are some situations in which hiring a postnatal doula could be particularly helpful: First-time Parents: New parents, especially those experiencing parenthood for the first time, may find the presence of a postnatal doula reassuring and supportive as they navigate the challenges of caring for a newborn. Single Parents: Individuals raising a child on their own may appreciate the extra assistance and emotional support provided by a postnatal doula. Couples with Limited Support Systems: If new parents are geographically distant from their extended family or lack a strong local support network, a postpartum doula can fill in the gap by offering practical help and guidance. Parents with Multiple Children: Families with more than one child may find it challenging to manage the needs of older siblings while caring for a newborn. A postpartum doula can assist with sibling integration and provide extra hands to lighten the load. Parents Recovering from a Difficult Birth or C-Section: Individuals recovering from a challenging childbirth experience or a cesarean section may require additional support during the postpartum period, and a doula can provide assistance with daily tasks and emotional well-being. Parents Experiencing Postpartum Mood Disorders: For those dealing with postpartum depression, anxiety, or other mood disorders, a postpartum doula can offer emotional support and help connect the family with appropriate resources. Couples with Demanding Work Schedules: If both parents have demanding work schedules, a postpartum doula can provide valuable assistance in managing household tasks and caring for the baby, allowing the parents to get some rest and balance their responsibilities. Parents Who Prefer Personalized Support: Some families simply prefer having an experienced and knowledgeable individual dedicated to providing personalized support and guidance during the postpartum period. It's important to note that the decision to hire a postpartum doula is a personal one, and the level of support needed may vary from family to family. Ultimately, anyone who feels they could benefit from additional assistance and support during the postpartum period may consider hiring a postnatal doula
